The route details (so far)

17th – 25th June 2023

New for 2023 two routes you choose before, or during the event at the route split point which you want to do. Route 1 is Approximately 300 miles with circa 8500 metres of elevation. Route 2 450 miles elevation TBC

Start and finish The Bike Chain Bissoe TR4 8QZ. 24hr cafe bar open throughout the event.

Mixed terrain so therefore a gravel or MTB is advised.

Designated and approved secure bivvy locations en-route.

We will take in as much off road as possible while delivering some of the most scenic and iconic sights Devon and Cornwall can offer. The route has a lot of climbing some steep. It’s definitely a challenge but one you can tackle anyway you want too.

The route can take you away from resupply for prolonged periods of time. You are free to leave the route at any time to get supplies. In the spirit of the route it’s best to rejoin where you left however this is not enforced in anyway. Your safety must be your primary focus. It is advisable to stock up on food and water when available. There is often very little available at night.

What bike should I ride?

Bike selection the route is suitable for gravel or MTB we would recommend a minimum tyre width of 38mm. Keep in mind you may have to hike more sections if your on slimmer tyres. This also depends on skill levels. I personally use a hard tail as I like the extra volume tyres it affords.

Is this a race?

No it’s not a race there is no clock on riders. DC trail is an adventure and an experience. It’s also a great chance to test yourself if you have aspirations to enter ultra races. There is a book at the finish to sign, so you will be able to see where you finish in relation to other riders.

Do you have to camp/bivvy?

No, it’s up to you you can tackle the route in any way you like. There is plenty of accommodation out there. If you do camp please be respectful and leave any spot as you found it.

We are also hosting several safe zones for camping/bivvying on the route. This is aimed at first-time bike packers and will provide some security for those less confident in this type of riding.

Tickets cost £65 for Earlybird entry and £80 from January 31st until close on June 1st 2023 or when sold out 2023 is limited to 500 places. They are available to purchase here.
